EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH Özge Törer
1.Bala Hatun in Kuruluş Osman for so long, how did you approach portraying her growth and evolution throughout the series? I think creating a character is something like putting on an outfit with all of its features. For an important historical person, you're shaping yourself according to them, not to your body. I witnessed many memories and struggles of Bala Hatun. When the journey is long with a character, assimilation becomes greater. The historical information was very helpful to me but reaching the point of being in love, having children, and struggling as a woman from a young girl required a great deal of mental and physical effort on my part.
2.Balancing fight scenes and emotional moments can be challenging. Did you have a preference for portraying the action hero side of Bala or the dramatic, vulnerable side? Bala Hatun's combination of her warrior spirit with emotional intelligence has always excited me. It's not difficult but enjoyable for me; therefore, I love her defensive and strong side.
3.Your chemistry with Burak Özçivit as Osman Bey was a highlight for fans. What was it like working together to build that dynamic? It is easy to work when you have a successful professional actor as your partner. The professional partnership that has developed over time reflects in our work. Working with Burak is very enjoyable.
4. After such a powerful historical character, what kind of roles are you drawn to for the future? Are there any specific genres you'd love to explore? Action, love and drama are my favorites. I love strong female characters who fight for her love, life and dreams.
5.Bala Hatun is a strong female character who defies expectations. How important is it for you to play characters who challenge traditional gender roles? Women who fight for a strong and just cause and leave their mark on life are invaluable. The original characters who stand tall against the challenges of life make me feel confident and strong. I value this not just for a project but also in my personal life.
6.You have a devoted international fanbase. What's the most heartwarming or surprising interaction you've had with a fan? Touching millions of hearts is an incredible honor. I want to emphasize that there is a mutual positive synergy, and I share their sincere love in the same way. I have such sweet stories... Once, a fan who truly thought I was Bala Hatun warned me to watch out for the enemy character in the script. :)
7.Did you do any specific research or training to immerse yourself in the historical period of Kuruluş Osman? Of course. In the pre-production process I undertook physical training such as horse riding, sword fighting, archery and I also read historical books. 8.How do you maintain a healthy work-life balance while filming a demanding historical drama? It can be difficult due to the intense pace but work life distinction is a thin line. The balance is achieved with a regular work schedule and emotional awareness. It took me some time to attain this level of professionalism.
9.What advice would you give to aspiring actors who dream of breaking into the Turkish film and television industry? Tv sector requires serious discipline and self sacrifice. Dreams, talent, and belief are supportive but not enough. Discipline and constant growth are necessary for truly doing the job right. I think the most important part is to preserve mental health.
10.If you could choose any project, historical or modern, what would be your dream acting role and why? I prefer projects that allow everyone to see a part of themselves, while also empowering them spiritually, evoking deep emotions, and inspiring others. I believe it's crucial to positively impact people's lives.
